So if you didn’t know I play drums in a rock band called Almost A.M. Don’t ask if we have any recordings available, we don’t. I love playing drums, heck I love writing music. It’s almost as fun as drawing. I’m surprised I haven’t done a band comic earlier but of course you know how these things go…
So Part 3 of my NERF THIS guest week is up! This one is a setup for a pretty epic battle coming in the next couple of days. I’m super excited to see how this goes. it’s been a blast to draw it.
And If you’ve just wandered in here from Nerf This, feel free to check out the archive and don’t be shy! leave a comment if ya like. I don’t bite unless your delicious.
You can follow me on Twitter at @IamARG or check out the I am ARG facebook page where I post updates and other stuff.
Do you have any recordings?
yep if you travel to a future where they are….
I had this problem when I played in orchestras, though I hope to god people didn’t think my face was viola shaped.
The arc on Nerf this has been great. Can’t wait for more 🙂
That’s the great thing about being a cello- you’re plainly visible. That and you’re guaranteed a chair wherever you play. XD
Thanks lynn! yeah it’s been fun doing those guest strips. also poor scott needed a break.
It always used to piss me off the drummer was always situated in the very back- and on really large stages, (s)he’d be a good fifteen feet from the best of the band. But it’s a question of sound more than anything- like how we stick the bassists in the back to keep our time for us.
lol your bassist keeps your time? that’s something I’m gonna have to start telling our bassist. we play pretty small stages usually so were always close together.
I know, right? A drummer friend of mine gets pissed all the time, because of it. His band features regularly on the local news circuit, but the band pictures always has him obscured by a) the cymbals b) the frontman or c) the stage lighting that is invariably upon the lead guitarist or vocals.
People come up to the band members, say hi and buy a round of drinks, and most of the time, nobody recognizes drummer boy. Sad.
I love the band pictures that are just perfect, everybody is in an awesome roacking pose and then the drummers head is covered up by a the head of a guitar.
I’m trying to wrap my head on how that hat is staying on.
But come on man, have you ever heard of the bass solo of life. Nah, you’ve probably heard of this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn4IprJww8w.
all will be explained soon enough. (like in two weeks time)
That looks pretty painful, actually.
This is actually my third post, on my first day here on this site. Loved these past… 6 hours?
Came across from Nerf This, and now have another comic to add to my bookmarks list. Thanks 🙂
I feel your…pain? Joy? What is this strange sentiment we share after obsessively reading through 6+ hours of a comic archive?
Such a very cymbalic rock idol.
HA! Bad pun
Photographing drummers does tend to be difficult… you guys just move around so damn much. That, and the lighting is so poor in the smaller clubs. But I do try to get one or two, at least.
So.. you don’t really look like a cymbal? Damn…
