I fail to see the relevance.
Its a given “most” animation in any era targeted specifically at kids assumes that the kids are idiots and for the most part they are.
Every once in a while there is a true gem that stands the test of time.
the first season of Batman Beyond, Robotech despite being a frankenstein monster of 3 unrelated anime series, Reboot, Beast Wars, First season of Tiny Toons, Animaniacs …. shall I go on?
I’ll give you batman, animaniacs and tiny toons but reboot was the cartoon that made me make this comic. I loved that show growing up but the animation, writing and shot selection is pretty bad in it even in the later season where they went deep and serious. granted I’ll give it the credit of breaking ground when it did and the the fact that the technology was new. even Toy story has bad animation in spots.
though we are debating abstracts and opinion here. what you consider good I may consider bad and vice versa.

Lol, Robotech was not made for kids. Much anime was created for an older audience.

The source material MAY not have been but Robotech most certainly WAS.
What about Justice League, JL Unlimited, Superman: TAS, and the genius that was Batman: TAS /The new Batman Adventures.

At least now you can watch all the episodes in one go online. As a kid, you had to wait for a different episode over the course of 3 days to see any plot progress.
Actually, even as a kid, I was aware of how truly awful most shows were. I’m surprised to find that my tastes in television have changed very little and the only shows I watched are ones that even my parents would probably enjoy watching.
The portion of my childhood which had Megababies as a significant fixture is not my proudest moment in retrospect. Rewatching Ripping friends as an adult I realize that it was a comedy, and a hilarious one at that. The DC animated works are still every bit as awesome as ever. At this point I think it’s comical that Los Luchadores even happened.
Really gotta take it on a case by case basis. Some shows age better than others.
yep, and when you really break it down, Everything is based on opinion and can’t be proven right or wrong because everybody has their own perspective on their childhood.

Other than when I was really young, I’ve always watched more mature shwos, ones that didn’t treat me like an idiot with a short attention span. One thing people don’t seem to get is that you can have maturity without absurd levels of profanity and violence, that isn’t what makes a show mature, despite how it seems. Sadly most western tv doesn’t get that, shows like Lost and BSG are rare examples.
I only really remember Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Batman, and a bit of Freakazoid growing up. Mostly just watched Star Trek TNG and Outer Limits as a kid.

As a kid I never really watched many bad shows, but even as a kid I was all “screw american cartoons, I like anime”. Looking back and watching some of the cartoons that were on when I was a kid now, I missed out on a lot of crap, but also some pretty good shows.
To be fair, I just rewatched Batman: The Animated Series, and the only fault I could find with it was that it was apparently set (tentatively) in the early 1960s (and the ‘sequel’ show, The New Batman Adventures, was apparently set in the late 70s), and even then it was pretty bloody awesome.
I will say nothing…
If I were to think of a comic that seamed really cool growing up. But not so good now it’d probably be “Wheeled Warriors”
I grew up on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. I didn’t follow many cartoons. No wonder I’m somewhat obnoxious.
…Am I weird? I grew up with 90’s Nickelodeon and I still watch those cartoons nearly every day. Zim, Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, etc.
Well, me being 17 I just have to say things are way more retarded now. Only one example necessary. Compare Digimon Adventures 01 with Noddy. When I was my little bro’s age I was crying while Angemon died to save everyone and my little brother is watching a mind-numbing, reality-blocking show for 1 year olds. At least it’s like this in my country.
I’m 35. I grew up with G.I. Joe, Transformers, He-Man, etc. And yes. Those shows are all shit. Utter shit. I have no nostalgia. NONE.
Look up The Nostalgia Critic. He really knows what he is talking about.
About 2/3 of the DVDs I own are of old cartoons.
