Playing Skyrim, you come across these giant spiders. They’re super creepy and like to pin you down which is even creepier when you’re playing in first person.
Because it’s a Bethesda game it’s very open to modding. Looking through some mod sites, I came across a mod that switched out all the spiders for bears. It’s hilarious now because whenever I encounter a spider now I see this. It’s great because since the bears don’t have a skeleton that matches the spiders the bears default to their T-pose. So it looks like statues coming at you.
Happy Hump Day!
The video cracked me up, as did the last panel. I love the art.
the sword looks like the master sword from zelda.
that’s cuz it is!
That’s sound logic I can get behind.
All cliches have potential to be truly awesome. The problem is that people forgot the reason they are cliches in the first place. They forget how to use them in an awesome way and just use them as a banal stock-enemy.
true there’s definitely a way to handle them without them being stock…
I just went back and looked some of your first comics; your style really changed! You no longer draw an ass faced man in every comic and the art itself seems abit more… ARG!ish. Also I agree GTFO spiders and don’t come back!
And just watch there be an ass-faced man in the next comic.
Ya… but that would be to obvious… and we all KNOW our dear ARG! wouldn’t go that low, would you ARG!?
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
I’d be disappointed in him if there wasn’t a butt-faced man or woman in the next comic.
Welp.
it’s all set up now
yeah I spend a little more time now then I did back then. 2 hours a comic makes a huge difference from one hour.
Ah modding. I remember modding the Altepa spiders in FFXI years ago. Creepy big assed fuckers.
Never got into ff XI I tired but I found it very frustrating for a beginner MMO guy. then WoW happened.
Pet Sematary 3: Taxidoomy
Giant Zombie Spidragon… Your argument is invalid.
well played…
Real possible monster, by the way, check it:

The combined best of both worlds, breath weapons, wall climbing, scales, venom, webs, what have you; also, like any RPG monster, it can come in giant and zombie form and, thus, both at the same time; also, since it’s already the size of a giant spider normally, just imagine how big it is in giant form.
NO… just no… not happening…
Man, @#$^ statues. Damn weeping angels!
lol yeah…
those bears are creepy as hell. oh well, I’ll just turn into a werewolf and make em bend over.. one way or the other
Heh… this is actually quite funny. I was just playing Infinite Undiscovery, and just completed the area Dais (giant spiders everywhere!).
Unfortunately, though, giant spiders are just too hard to get rid of from anything. The bastards just keep on breeding (using your dragon in such a manner does help, though).
It’s that they’ve become too stock. As a DM, I really have to upplay a spider or a dragon, but it’s not hard if you can think from a player perspective.
Spiders are fun if you have it as a pet of something… you can really cause a lot of havoc with a sorcerer outting torches and a spider playing tank. I once had a group of spiders that worked with a kobold village: kobolds rob/kidnap people for the spiders, the spiders play defense for the kobold caves. Great fun, that. Chimera spiders (half-spiders, with the other half giving an intellect) can make things a bit better as well.
Dragons… Dragons can be great, but I dislike stupid/aggressive dragons. Not every dragon has to be Smaug the Golden or Bahamut, King of Dragons, but talking/casting/conniving dragons can be a great load of fun.
I do, however, hate Zombies. At least modern waves-of-the-undead zombies. Voodoo or controlled zombies are fine, but there are plenty of more interesting undead that need more screen time, methinks. It doesn’t help that *everything* has zombies in it now.
Bit of a rant, but as a creator I too am disappointed in the over saturation of shitty work in modern gaming.
I’m sure any amount of creativity can fix any of the problems. but yeah stock spiders are crap, intelligently portrayed or heck, creatively implemented spiders… pretty cool…
im fuckin’ scared of bears. that mod would freak me out, giant spiders i can deal with, all i need is a giant tissue, but bears are assholes. Trolls are just trolls.
cats are assholes… bears are douchebags… trolls still trolls… dragons are still awesome and spiders are still and forever will be creepy as fuck…
saber cats are like bears with cat features, so they’re ass-bags
Ah! It’s the return of the phallus chair!
I was wondering if anybody was gonna noticed… I didn’t detail it up this time…
didn’t i tell you before to stop dickin’ around!?!
Ya give a man a pencil… he’s gonna draw a dick with it… JUST SAYINS!
Ever seen Super Bad? Same thing.
They only giant spider I will ever like is the antagonist of Limbo.
Even if that bugger keeps skewering my head. What did I ever do to him
I haven’t touched limbo yet but I hear that was a very effective use of a spider…
Gears of War 3 did a play on spider webs, I thought the same thing..
only they sent in GIANT ELECTRICAL CENTIPEDES.
Mmm I think I’ll stick with my spiders even though they want to nom my face.. bears really scare me.. especially when you’re wandering through skyrim headphones and all lost in the game just headin back to town after an epic dragon fight and what do you run into? A bloody freakin bear… >_>
Minecraft has spiders, zombies AND dragons! Beat that.
Hmm. I could see the possibilities of having just normal spiders in a game.
It’d need a fully 3-d character though.
You walk into the web-covered cave, stop to open up a treasure chest and after another minute or two you see a little spider go across the corner of the screen. You pan down and SPIDERS ALL OVER YOUR BODY!
