Every once and a while it’s nice to break free of the apartment and go to a small cafe and just sketch either people or the things around you. It’s a nice alternative when you can’t go to life drawing. Unfortunately, some people don’t take kindly to people drawing in cafes as I’ve had numerous people complain about it. It was only three times that I wore assless chaps. give a guy a break.
I just started reading yourself and found this site through other sites.. got to say I’m addicted LOL
That’s awesome to hear! I’m glad you’re enjoying the comic!
Walking penises: always classy
Always.
Sir Richard Hath Returned! I Must Spread The Word!
lol penile pyres.
Nice, remember to always were tinted glasses while drawing people at cafes, it makes it so people don’t know your drawing them AND you look like a creep.
sound advice, I’ll make sure I have my creeper smile on too.
I don’t understand that joke…
it’s okay maybe tomorrow.
Wait… so penises are OK on this host after all? Sweet!
this is a new host! complete with the occasional wang.
Wait. . honestly people complain about some one drawing them?? That i just dont understand. Whats the issue i mean, its Art(or in your case Arg).
Heck i think it would be kinda cool one day if i was sitting around drinking that black urine men call coffee and noticed some one drawing me.
some people are fine with it. some art. some act like dicks about it. some are polite.
I guess my social circle is a bit(a lot) more open to things like that. Course knowing us if we found out some one was drawing us we would actually have fun with it. . . as long as the drawer seemed cool with it.
You’ve gotten complaints? Is everyone in your town part of a witness protection program or something?
Dude, people are freaked as *shit* about being recorded.
I wear an eye-tap… currently it’s just a prototype, but it’s getting there. People always say “Are you recording me? I didn’t give you permission to record me!”, and the like… they don’t seem to realize that as long as I’m in a public place I can freely record them, I just can’t sell my recordings, which doesn’t help them any because I believe that information should be free.
I’ve had the cops called on me, stores freak out about it, coffee-shop-going-douchebags (Not that people who frequent coffee shops are all bad, but the obnoxious “Art-Critic” Types… you know the ones) are some of the worst… that and women who think you’re being a perv or something. It’s *really* obnoxious. Cyborg rights are something that are only barely happening in Canada and France, the US has no fucking idea…
But yeah, people read 1984 and panicked about cameras, I shit you not.
seriously people record and photograph shit on there phones all the time and rarely does anyone complain about it.
I hope you don’t mind if I ask, but what is an eye-tap?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EyeTap
and dear god do i want one.
I didn’t realize it was so easy to make people uncomfortable. I need to take my camera more places.
Oh man, I really, really like the way you draw women.
good thing thats not weird or anything. could have made things really uncomfortable for everyone. and i read what you said there in a decrepid old man voice. have fun bro.
good thing thats not weird or anything. could have made things really uncomfortable
also greatly sorry but my computer id appearently the worlds biggest plastic piece of shit.
Wow… you really nailed his likeness.
thanks, I think I nailed it this time.
Finally, another classic ARG strip. I’ve been missing this kinda stuff.
you’re welcome.
I had no idea people were so paranoid about this but I do not see people sitting in public places drawing all that often.
it’s common in toronto, what with the like 9 animation schools in and around the city.
Its odd that you mention how people are paranoid about being recorded, but yet, more and more cellphones have devices that tell where you are at any given second. They allow you to tweet and upload stuff to youtube and facebook. So yeah, you’re on video by someone, some where.
I’ve had to install video cameras in my car to record the actions of others while I’m driving to protect me during accidents and others performing dangerous acts, but yet, I’m the criminal for videotaping unsafe and dangerous public behavior and reporting it to the police? Apparently is a state crime to record folks without consent or warning.
So basically you should have a sticker on your car passenger doors saying “If you get in this car, you will be recorded”? I have no problem if the video camera is there in the interest of safety. An explanation as to why the camera is there might be asked, but on the whole I’ll be cool with it.
Heh… that’s also true. People are increasingly paranoid about being followed, hacked, wiretapped and the like, but they allow persistent connections on Foursquare, Twitter and Facebook on their mobiles?
My cellphone currently has the last 4 places i’ve vacationed. anybody who nabbed it would probably be able to figure out the last 4 years of my life easy.
I’ve had some of my friends asked by security of police officers to not draw in malls or parks. People are really paranoid these days.
yeah I’ve had security in the animation building of my old school tell me not to draw. I wasn’t even drawing anybody I was writing down some notes….
Ugh. I remember for art class we had sit outside and draw people. Suddenly everyone was very adept of avoiding me. Or even worse – wannabe art critics who would push their faces on your paper and tell you how to do it better even though you’re not done yet.
It’s not like I could draw any likeness anyway. D=
A friend of mine used to get free pints down the pub for drawing people. Until it shut down and the owner moved. (Still my friend scrapbooked all his drawings and gave it to the owner as a going away gift). Its a damn shame that people are so paranoid in your country/state (w/e im from england).
This is made me smile ever so brightly. It’s nice to take a step away from my finals and enjoy some penis art. Awesome is all I can say. Been a fan and will stay one if you keep this witticism up.
Not much I can add to the witticisms really but guys, if it is not below freezing and windy then wearing a scarf makes you a pompous … what he drew …. even if you are in a Toronto Coffee Shop.
As for the security incident mentioned earlier – get their names and badge numbers and report them to the Deans Office and SAC.
Idiots like that are dangerous on a lot of levels [unless its the states – that place is all kinds of screwed up].
Amazing that you made his sketch so life-like. 😉
