So this comic came from a conversation with my girlfriend as we were heading back from my parents this weekend. Sitting on the subway this situation always come0s up.
This weekend was a busy one. I had an acoustic show in Hamilton, Ontario that we all didn’t think we prepared enough for but it ended up being a pretty cool show. We got pressured into an encore and acousticized a song we never thought would sound good acoustic and I guess it went pretty good according to crowd reaction. Acoustic drum is fun but weird. definitely have some drumming comics written.
I think tonight the girlfriend and I are going to see Super 8, so I’m hoping to have a review up. I’m excited as I do enjoy both the good and bad of JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg. My friend Ryan posted a review up on his blog and it’s an entertaining read and I hope to either agree or debate him on that when we record the podcast this week.
I hope you enjoy Todays comic and like always don’t be afraid to leave comments or follow me twitter.
And there’s a top webcomics vote button there on the side, I’m not usually one for those vote sites but I see the merits of it and can appreciate what it does. so yeah it’s there…
Till Tuesday…
Well. The comments section. Damn. I had planned to put something entertaining and halfway intelligent here, but then I noticed the Twitter thing. And my train of thought was completely derailed by it. I don’t know why, either.
Right then… I’ll skip straight to the next step (effusive praise, step #2.) I just read through until the current comic. Interesting, and amusing the whole lot of them.
Now that I have exhausted any and all reserves of intelligent conversation I have left, I wonder if anyone is going to actually post here. Or maybe they’ll just tweet it. (I still don’t quite understand how it works. Maybe if I actually used the thing.)
Thanks for taking time to read through the archives. and I totally understand about the twitter feed especially today’s. haha
I appreciate the time you took to comment on the post here and hope I can keep the quality up for you.
Cheers!
Lol, saw the ad for your website on Awkward Zombie. Love it, man š Keep up the good work; can’t wait for your next update. š
Thanks! Every monday to Friday I update and soon I’ll post some bonus comics on the weekend.
You seem to have an odd obsession with what the cute girl(s) sitting opposite to you on the subway think of you.
Oh, also; the second panel, specifically the facial expression in it, is probably your best work so far.
yeah, this is confrimation bias but more often than not there’s usually a pretty girl sitting across from me just as I’m about to do or am doing something that makes me look like a creeper, and then usually there’s that awkward aftermath to deal with for the rest of the trip… it could be anybody in that place and it would be just as awkward.
I actually didn’t think it was an obsession. Haven’t you ever noticed that when you’re doing something even Mildly embarrassing, that’s when you’ll spotted either by A)cute person of the opposite sex who will then think you’re an escaped mental patient & be grossed out, B)somebody who knows you from work, school, family functions, etc that will then think you’re an escaped mental patient & be grossed out or C)all the above (& be grossed out)?
Sort of like when you just got over the flu, are barely alert, look like hell, but have to run to the store because jeez, you ran out of something necessary to your survival (like cookies) and that’s when some jerk you had a crush on in eighth grade Suddenly bumps into you and recognizes you and wants to chat about “the old days” when you just want to take your cookies and crawl back into bed… Or does that sort of thing only happen to me?
By the by, enjoy the comic, ARG. (Gotta say my fave so far is the one with the blow-up dolls floating in the sky though… Talk about “Lucy in the sky with diamonds”! XD)
Hilarious…
Really liking your comic man,,, the greyscale thing is cool. Its like old school spy vs spy meets penny arcade meets… something Im not sure of yet…cant put my finger on it.
What software are you using? the strokes look like you are using a tablet of some sort… or are you scanning a physical drawing in and then coloring/shading etc? (if you dont mind me asking)
Don’t mind answering this question at all, in fact I think I’ll add to this to the FAQ sometime soon.
Sometimes I thumbnail out a comic in my sketchbook if I get a nice pose idea or composition in my head. I’ll then actually take a photo of it with my phone and email it to me and import it into Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and from there scale it up or down and then use that as the rough. sometimes I just rough it out right in Sketchbook pro. Then somewhat cleaned up lineart and colors(greyscale, which is intentional) All this is done on a HP pavillion Tablet laptop, which I treat as a digital sketchbook.
HAH! This comic hits home so hard; I do this all the time.
Lovely work, Mr. ARG š I’ve read through what you have so far, and I really like your artwork. I’ve wanted to start a sort of comic-blog for ages now, but I’m REALLY bad at laying out decent backgrounds. You make it look so simple. Do you really create these comics in an hour??
Yep, I really do only spend an hour per comic, from conception to completion. I probably spend the least amount of time on backgrounds which is a bad thing really but I’m glad what backgrounds are in there are effective. Thanks for the support!
I know! That’s how I feel all the time, man! Glad somebody feels the same š
lol. That’s why you check the SEAT, not your butt
dont want to sound weird……. but i think i am anyway… those bus seats look like muni bus seats… am i wrong?
this is me
I see no problem with that.
